SAFEGUARDING

SAFEGUARDING

St Colman's and St Paul's are committed to the Safeguarding policies of the Catholic Church in England and Wales; protecting children, young people and vulnerable adults from any form of abuse or maltreatment and to promote a safe environment for them.

This commitment flows from the fact that we are all made in the image of God and the Church’s common belief in the dignity and uniqueness of every human life. We start from the principle that each person has a right to expect the  highest level of care and protection, love, encouragement and respect that we can give.

We will liaise closely and openly with statutory agencies to ensure that any concerns or allegations of abuse that are raised are promptly reported and properly investigated, victims supported and perpetrators held to account.

Our Archdiocese co-operates fully with CSAS, the Catholic Safeguarding Advisory Service, this  aims to help our Church become an example of best practice when considering the Safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults, and develop a "culture of vigilance" to ensure that children and vulnerable adults in our care are kept safe from harm

Should you have any reason for concern about a young person or vulnerable adult then you may bring your concerns to the attention of Irene Taylor

Towards a culture of Safeguarding

The Catholic Church has a responsibility to ensure that all those who undertake work in the name of the Church are adequately trained in safeguarding matters

We all have a role to play in safeguarding the young or adults who may be vulnerable or at risk.  It is for this reason that we have worked with EduCare to bring you an e-learning package that will raise awareness throughout the Catholic Community in England and Wales. The e-learning package is part of the Church’s commitment to safeguarding, and is available to all members of the Catholic community. Please contact your Parish Priest for further information
